In a Violent Nature (2023)

 'In a Violent Nature' is a slasher movie told principly from the point of view of the killer, including many a long walking shot. Johnny is a near unstoppable and sadistic, Jason like serial killer. The film drops you into what feels like the 4th or 5th installment of a horror franchise.  Johnny is resurrected when foolish youths remove his mother's locket from his makeshift grave in the woods. After digging himself out Johnny procures his signature fire fighting masks and kills a bunch of people. Johnny's back story is fleshed out in bits of conversation we catch between characters who would be front and center in a typical slasher movie, but here are decidedly secondary. A clever premise that could have probably benefited from a tighter script and editing, but which I still rather enjoyed as a way of making old things new again. Plenty of creative kills, shot in Canada. ***
